Russell Covey

"Russell has had a massive impact on me on and off the Golf course since we began working with each-other in September 2019. His diligence in helping me to perform better and believe in myself more, is something I never expected from any Golf coach. 

From thinking in April 2019 that I wouldn’t play competitive golf to any degree again after a severe break to my right arm, to being crowned English Amateur Champion 15 months later, is something I couldn't have dreamt of without the support and input of Russell. 

He’s not only an expert in getting the best out of people, he's also a pleasure to be around and I feel very fortunate to be able to call him my coach.

"Russell and I started working together in April 2018. I was confident Russell could elevate my game further and he had a good stable of players already that had won events. 

We made some really good changes and I learned how to score and compete even when not at my best. We’ve had a great journey so far and I hope that can continue, having delivered a major win in the amateur game at the Scottish Open Strokeplay in 2019 along with other great achievements such as 3rd at The Amateur Championship, 3rd at the South African Amateur Championship and English Amateur Medalist in 2019 too!

Russell and I have been working together for a number of years. He has helped me to improve not only the golf swing but also my understanding of how to get the best out of my game and most importantly, lower my scores. Together we highlight areas of strength to keep an eye on and maintain but more importantly identifying areas that could be improved.

He uses all of the latest equipment as well as his specific knowledge to produce and isolate, complicated data to reference what you are physically doing and comparing that to what you, the player are feeling. Doing this, in a simple and relatable way he discusses what change he believes would be best, going forwards. From there he would discuss with you how he feels the best way to implement these changes would be and put a plan in pace.

I always enjoy having sessions with Russ as I always come away with a smile on my face and knowing that the change or correction will get me closer to my ultimate goal.

Together we have managed to work up from County player to National player, International player and into the Professional ranks. Through each stage collecting knowledge, understanding and experience. Lots of this progress is down to Russell’s dedication, work ethic and love of the game.

I only started working with Russell for 6 months and since then my golfing ability has been taken to the next level. I now feel so much more in control of my game, I have a much better understanding of what I’m doing and mentally have a lot more belief and positivity. 

I always come away from a lesson feeling positive and away from the lessons Russell shows support online. My progress is clear in better scoring and winning the West of England Amateur 3 weeks after our first session together!

 I’ve known Russell for a few years from when he was the junior county coach, and just wish I’d started seeing him earlier! 

What can I say about Russ, how can I get other golfers to understand the level of quality golf coaching that this man has .

I started working with Russ neigh on a decade ago now when I thought I was coming to the end of my county golf career for Somerset which has always meant so much to me personally. At the time I was losing my scratch handicap status due to poor ball striking and had a  hook flight with little control. Russ took me on board and changed the shape , flight and  distance along with a huge amount of control but also I completely understand my swing so much so that when it goes wrong I’m in the knowledge that I can correct it whilst on the course. With the additional control my handicap reduced and at 47 my playing handicap reduced to -1.4 . I’m still playing county golf due to this man and this year will be my 4th decade of playing for Somerset and with his help who knows what will happen. 

I can not recommend this guy highly enough and you only have to look at the caliber of golfer he coaches ( excluding myself ) and the understanding of all different levels of golfer and their needs .

Russ has the drive to take all golfers to the next level and if the individual puts the time in and listens they will only go from strength to strength. 

I worked with Russell for around 4 years in which time I progressed from a competitive junior to a elite amateur golfer competing in the British open in 2015 and playing competitive golf in America for 4 years before turning professional. 

Russell helped me with so many things during this period and was a huge driving factor in my success. His knowledge and experience using trackman and other analysis tools to best direct and guide my improvement so that I could reach my full potential.

 Russell’s commitment to his players is second to non and I will always be greatful for the time we spent working together
